I'm Steve Heap and I live to create images that will bring back memories of a happy vacation or remind you of a place that you used to call home! My aim is to capture each location I visit in the best light and create a photograph that you would be truly proud to display in your home or office. Although this will completely date me, I'm an accomplished photographer who first picked up a camera more than 50 years ago! Those words just make me shiver! Although it is hard to believe, my images have been licensed by publishers of all types over 300,000 times in the past 10 years. More recently, though, I have been more focused on the elusive task of getting the perfect image of places I visit - ones that really speak to the viewer and ones that would be a perfect image to remind people of a happy time in that location. Restored copy of a 1892 birds eye panoramic perspective map of the town of Norfolk in Virginia by Henry Wellge. This gives an interesting view of the city and its busy naval port with tremendous detail in the engraving. The image was created by Henry Wellge, an artist who specialized in making panoramic views of cities and towns in the late 19th century. He used a technique called engraving, which involves carving lines and dots on a metal plate and then printing it on paper. The image shows a bird's eye view of Norfolk, meaning that it looks like it was taken from a high angle, as if by a flying bird. The image captures the city and its streets, as well as the harbor and the surrounding landscape. The image was made in 1892, when Norfolk was a thriving port city with a population of about 34,000 people. The image is a valuable historical document that shows how Norfolk looked more than a century ago.
